Guided Tour of The Isle of Skye
This month we take a look at one of the most popular tourist destinations in Scotland, Skye
Many tours of Scotland include Skye in their trip as it has an almost legendary appeal. So lets look at some of the sites and attractions you might visit with me on our tour of Skye.
Skye is the largest of the Inner Hebrides lying off the west coast of Scotland, with a distinctly Highland feel. There is spectacular mountain scenery, stunning sea lochs, incredible geology and a rich abundance of wildlife. The island is actually a lot bigger than you think and you could easily spend a week or more exploring.
Some tour options include:
We can go for a walk and take in the stunning mountain scenery of the Cuillins, arguably the most formidable mountains in the whole of the UK. The narrow ridges and steep cliffs, mean you need a good head for heights. We can take you on some hikes which take in this magnificent mountain scenery, without the scary bits! I know lots of routes which showcase amazing mountain and loch views without any steep hillwalking or climbing.
Explore the island capital of Portree, and enjoy a seafood lunch. You can also enjoy shopping or just looking around this delightful little village next to the sea. You can go for a boat trip or just enjoy a walk around the bay.
How about visiting Skye’s most famous Whisky Distillery? Indulge in a distillery tour at Talisker, a classic dram and a good fun visit, especially if the weather is not so kind.
We can head to the wild, wild north and the dramatic Quirang mountains (made famous by the BFG and Stardust movies) and a visit to The Fairy Glen is special too. One of my favourite places is the lonely and dramatic lighthouse at Neist point.
If the weather is good, you can enjoy a dip in the Fairy Pools, I know some quieter pools where few tourists go, so we can enjoy the real experience away from the crowds of tour buses.
There is so much to see on Skye, and together we can work out a tour of Skye that hits the highlights and shows you the best of Skye.
